THIS
IS WHAT WE WROTE IN 1990 (PREMONITION OR WHAT?)
INTERNET / INTRANET SERVICES
The Services
G.A.W. Associates communications division provides uniquely focused
communications systems and integration services, (either X.400
or Internet based). We design and build reliable, easy-to-use
e-mail systems. As an independent engineering company we have
excellent relationships with the major suppliers of Internet
services, e-mail products, networking software and communications
hardware throughout the world.
The Internet
The Internet has shown a dramatic rise in popularity over the
last two years. It delivers truly 'open' public e-mail services to
tens of millions of users in over 100 countries. It can connect you
with experts in every field; lawyers, scientists, engineers and
business professionals who will help you keep up-to-date with ideas,
information and techniques before they become common knowledge.
The Solution
Each of our clients has a unique set of messaging requirements
and we work together to select the most appropriate combination of
products and services to answer each need. We constantly research
the market and review product offerings to provide the most cost
effective and reliable solution.
Integration
If you already use an in-house e-mail network we can connect
selected staff or everyone to the Internet - each with their own
personal address, able to send and receive mail to/from clients and
colleagues around the world. Your organisation will have an
internationally recognised mail identity with the ability to
communicate electronically regardless of the system the other party
is using.
Security
To take advantage of the outstanding business benefits offered
by access to the Internet, the well publicised security implications
must also be addressed. We can provide secure, remotely manageable
'firewall' systems to protect your internal network. By default,
all traffic in either direction which is not authorised or
permitted by your own 'rules' can be prevented. This solution
can also be used to eliminate any costs of unauthorised usage
by your own staff. It is also important for Internet Service
Providers to be working with and be represented within European
standards making bodies. A member of our staff, Andrew Colleran
provides this ongoing service and is internationally recognised
as a leading authority on Electronic Commerce. As chairman
of the EU committee, he has produced a report on current standards.
There are two main purposes of this report: the first is to
review the current standards and specifications which exist
or are being developed, which are relevant for the establishment
of Europe-wide trusted services; the second is to put forward
a roadmap for future standards development work. Please contact
us for a copy.
